100 is a chromium carbide weld overlay plate. The advanced manufacturing process of 100, along with the microstructure and chemical composition, give 100 its superior properties. 100 suited for applications involving high abrasion and low to medium impact. It is available in large sheet sizes or can be cut to custom shapes.

Manufacture

100 is manufactured using advanced fusion bond welding technology to apply a highly abrasive resistant chromium carbide onto a steel substrate producing consistent chemistry and microstructure with a smooth overlay deposit, creating a bi-metallic material with high abrasion resistance whilst still retaining ductility allowing forming and welding. Multiple overlay and backing plate thickness options are available.

Microstructure

100’s microstructure consists of large, primary M7C3 carbides surrounded
by a eutectic mixture of carbides and austenitic matrix material. The very hard
primary carbides form as hexagonal, needle-like rods which are very resistant
to wear. The austenitic matrix material provides mechanical support to the
primary carbides whilst also helping to absorb impact.
